Video Rationale
Context: This assignment was created for my C I 3750 class Integrated Media and Technology into Teaching under the instruction of Mary Rogers. The technology used for this assignment was I-Movie and a digital video recorder where we were able to edit and add effects to our video. The members of my group were Jessica Beckworth and Elyse Addington.
Impact: The story we created was adopted from "No David" by David Shannon. This lesson was intended for teaching elements of a story as well as creating a story line, using a digital video recorder, and editing skills. This assignment was beneficial for both visual and auditory learners because students were able to both see and hear the material to better understand. This assignment also meets language arts and technology standards for North Carolina.
Alignment:
NC DPI Standard 6, Indicator 1- I met this standard because I learned basic concepts of film and editing through the technology used. I also incorporated art, dance and creativity with the story line created and the video footage recorded.
NETS-T I-B- I met this standard by researching the different technologies used for video editing as well as used an up to date digital recording camera. By using I-Movie I became familiar with the different editing options and components it offers in order to make a remarkable short movie.
NETS-T II-D- I met this standard by integrating language arts into the teaching/learning of the technology used.
NETS-T VI-B- I met this standard because students worked in groups using different ideas and decision making skills that enabled to students to come up with diverse concepts. The students were able to essentially teach each other because students were given different jobs that they were able to excel at in the end.
