Newsletter Rationale
Context: This newsletter was created for my classroom where I did my first internship. It was created in my CI 3750 class, Integrating Media and Technology into Teaching under the advisement of Mary Rogers. I gave this newsletter to students and parents so that they could get to know me better and understand why I was in there classroom. The technology I used for this assignment was Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Photoshop and the internet.
Impact: The newsletter helped students get to know me and to better understand why there was someone new in there classroom. Students were able to ask further questions and it also gave me an opportunity to get to know a little about them before I started teaching. It was important that students were introduced to me before I came into their classroom so that respect and excitement could be established.
Alignment:
- NCDPI Standard 16 Indicator 3- I met this indicator because I made it available for students, parents, guardians and caretakers to build a relationship with me. It also informed them about my purpose as in intern in their classroom.
- NETS-T V-C- I met this standard because I used technology to communicate instead of a handwritten letter. I used pictures to get my point across which also made the letter more intriguing and original. I could also make changes easily as I went along with the process and was able to save each time those changes were made.
- NETS-T V-D- I met this standard because I used technology to communicate to students and their caretakers. It was also a more inviting way for students and caregivers to get to know me and possibly feel more comfortable about me being in the classroom.
- NC DPI Standard 16 indicator 3 I met this indicator by providing parents with a newsletter informing them of what my role was in the classroom as well as background information about myself.
