School Profile: 

Facilities Description: Dryden Elementary School is comprised of two buildings.  Within these two buildings are 30 classrooms, a library, three computer labs, cafeteria, main office, guidance office, nurse’s office, speech therapy room and playground.  

Enrollment Description:  Dryden Elementary presently has an enrollment of 354 students in Head Start through 5^th Grade.  The ethnic makeup of the school consists of 346 White, six Hispanic, and two African American. The current free/reduced lunch rate is 81 percent.

Staff Description:  Dryden Elementary staff is comprised of 33 classroom teachers, two physical education teachers, two resource teachers, one guidance counselor, one media specialist, one Reading specialist, one Math specialist, seven special education paraprofessionals, two Head Start paraprofessionals, one nurse, one principal, one secretary, one bookkeeper, three custodians, and three cafeteria workers.  Itinerant teachers include music, occupational therapy assistant, physical therapy assistant, and a physical therapist.  Three mental health professionals provide services through Family Preservations.  Sixty-six percent of the staff has obtained a bachelor’s degree, 26% have obtained a master’s degree, five staff members have obtained an EdS degree, and one member recently obtained their Doctorate.

Passing through Pennington Gap, entering Dryden, turn left onto Dryden Loop. Continue on approximately one mile, Dryden Elementary School is on the left.

From Kingsport: Take Ramp onto US23N, traveling approximately 21 miles.  Turn Left on US-421/US-58W/Duff-Patt Rd/State Route 871, traveling approximately 10.6 miles.  Turn  right onto US-421N, traveling approximately 5 miles.  Turn right onto US-58 ALT-E/Trail of the Lonesome Pine Road, traveling approximately 3.7 miles.  Turn left onto Dryden Loop.  Continue on approximately one mile, Dryden Elementary School is on the left.
