Elective Course Work

All writing majors are required to take 15 or more credits of elective writing courses. Nine or more of these credits are expected to be at or above the 300-level (junior level). These courses teach a certain style or form of writing, and are used to either support a degree concentration or specific career path. Writing majors have many courses to choose from to fulfill these credits. The available course options change by year or semester.

When I graduate Ithaca College in May of 2014, I will have taken 36 credits of elective writing courses, including the following: Proposal & Grant Writing, Editing & Publishing, Grammar & Usage, Poetry I, Poetry II, Fiction I, Women & Writing, Writing as a Naturalist, Autobiography, several internships and the Distinguished Visiting Writer's Workshop. Here I have listed an explanation of some of the most influential classes and course work I have done.
