Research Interests

My interests, in great part, reflect my time growing up in the city of Detroit. My dissertation examines the building of the Detroit trash incinerator during the 1980s and the community activism againt its operation. More broadly, my research focuses on urban history, deindustiralization, pollution and waste history, community activism and place-making, urban renewal, and the history of food and beer. My interests in Public History are exhibition design, museum education and programming, historic preservation, and oral history.
