Research Interests

My interests, in great part, reflect my time growing up in the city of Detroit. My dissertation examines the planning and construction of the Greater Detroit Resource Recovery Authority trash incinerator during the 1970-1980s and the community activism againt its operation. More broadly, my research interests focus on urban history, deindustiralization, pollution and waste history, community activism and place-making, and urban renewal. My interests in Public History are exhibit design, museum education and programming, historic preservation, and oral history.
