About Me

Hi everyone!  My name is Raks Derival, and I am a high school science teacher at the Innovation Academy Charter School.  I curently teach chemistry, chemistry for a healthier you, and forensic science.  I look forward to adding molecular biology to the mix.  I am the proud mother of 2 sons and proud coach of 2 volleyball teams (not rivals).  I am a GREEN CHEMISTRY ENTHUSIAST.  That's the stuff that really puts the wind in my sails.  Don't know about it?  You better ask somebody!  Or just click here.

I enjoy working out, spreading sunshine, inspiring, being inspired, making others laugh, and laughing from others' jokes.  I especially enjoy chemistry jokes.  Here's a small treat for you:

Q: Why do chemists call helium, curium and barium the medical elements?

A: Because if you can't helium or curium, you barium!

I created this WebQuest as part of a course in my master's program at Franklin Pierce University.  This course is very special to me, and I am sure it's one of the most valuable I will have taken in my career.  I would appreciate any feedback that you might have on this WebQuest.  You can email me at rderival@innovationcharter.org if you'd like to reach me with questions, comments, or send me some awesome chemistry jokes.

Enjoy!
