  1. Standard #5: Disability Lessons Standard #5: Disability Lessons
Standard #5: I created these lessons for EDU 717. There are a total of ten lessons focusing on math and language arts. These lessons are geared towards students with a disability. Lessons include examples of worksheets and assessments. These lessons have been helpful, as I have used them while working with students on my caseload.
  2. Standard #5: Person Centered Planning Standard #5: Person Centered Planning
Person centered planning is a method of mapping one’s future educational placement within society. Person centered planning focuses on individual’s strengths and dreams, rather than their inefficiencies. This individualized approach focusing on strengths, hopes, and needs allows for a team to collaborate with a student to help him/her achieve an overall goal. Most notable among the person centered planning approaches are: “Personal Futures Planning”, “Circles of Support”, “Making Action Plans” (MAPs), “Planning Alternative Tomorrows with Hope” (PATHs) and “Wraparound Services”.
  3. Standard #5: Reading Block Plan Standard #5: Reading Block Plan
Standard #5: I created this reading block for a kindergarten classroom. I utilized teaching strategies I learned from the literacy course I took and applied these strategies to create a 100 minute reading block plan. I made sure to add plenty of opportunity for movement and student collaboration in the activities within my reading block plan. I also made sure to add time for weekly assessments in order to monitor student progress.
