This paper compares an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) and an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Working within the special education field, it is important to know the attributes of different educational programming options.

I wrote this essay to reflect on the content I learned during my Special Education Law course. The lessons and skills I have learned in this class revolve around the literature and policies within the IDEA. The knowledge I have obtained revolving around case law within special education, and the regulations and procedures set forth by the IDEA have provided me with much information pertaining to the field of special education. The content learned from this course has provided me not only with a solid foundation of the application of laws within special education; but also a guide for personal progression regarding special education law and regulations.

Observing an IEP meeting provided me with great insight on how to effectively manage my own meetings. When conducting meetings with parents, I believe it is important to make parents feel comfortable. I make sure parents understand everything we have discussed before moving on to the next section of the IEP or topic. When the meeting comes to an end, it is important to recap the meeting to make sure the objective of the meeting was achieved and parents/staff have all questions answered.
