Yellow highlights in the NEXT STEPS chart indicate where we are in this project as of mid-December 2012. (P indicates that the item has been postponed but is still an agenda item.)
Select the assessment planning templates for your Component Areas, attached here (scroll down). These may appear slightly different: typos have been corrected and the deadline has been added. You do not need to re-do any work you have already completed using the previous version.
Assessment Template Notes:
-
The "required student credit hours" are those required by Texas. You may replace this number with your planned requirement.
-
The instructions for using the Legend are at the bottom of the sheet. These codes were developed to better reflect learning in college, versus the 3-level coding typically used in mapping K-12 curricula. The spreadsheets are set to enter the color block when you type in the letter code. If your version of Excel does not do this, don't worry about it; the letter code is sufficient.
-
Core Objective assessment strategies must be replicable across CTC's instructional sites and delivery modes.
-
In the expanded section where you will enter your ASSESSMENT STRATEGY, enter one strategy per core objective per course. Use brief summary statements in this template (the syllabus can provide greater detail with the course submission). You can merge relevent boxes. See the example plan attachment, as well as the example assessment. (To help identify appropriate assignments that already exist within courses ("embedded") review the Core Curriculum Tool Kit material in the Research section of this website.)
-
Each department should provide one assessment plan spreadsheet for each component area that it is involved in. They can be in the same workbook with separate sheets, or in separate workbooks.
