Updating the Texas Core Curriculum
In November 2013 we will need to submit our core curriculum for review and approval under the new rules. THECB will use the new core structure to evaluate courses we want included in the core effective in Fall 2014. This is a zero base process: courses currently approved for the institution for core are not grandfathered.
The attached documents illustrate the requirement and provide models for revising master syllabi. Syllabus revision is only one part of the process. The college may add or subtract courses that it wants to submit as its new core curriculum. Different courses and departments may be involved if desired.
We will hold faculty workshops to clarify the process and requirements.
<==== please check the Professional Development schedule.
The Coordinating Board is continuing to develop implementation specifics to its website at this time. See, for example, these Core Curriculum Assessment Guidelines and the Starlink webinar explaining the basis for the new core objectives and framework.
