Outline of my daily schedule for my 4th period Physical Science class 1:15-2:10.
I. Start students on their daily science journal entry, take roll, instruct students to write their homework in their assignment journals. (5 min.)
II. Go over the science journal, integrating it into the previous day’s lesson and using it as a platform for the current day’s lesson. (5 min.)
III. Begin class with a demo, video clip, interactive diagram or writing activity to engage students and get them interested so the transition into the tedious lesson information will flow smoothly. (5 min.)
IV. Lecture and required note-taking using a PowerPoint presentation with lots of pictures and student related real-life example, once again, to keep them actively engaged as much as possible. (10 min.)
V. Ask questions, give examples, and probe students for questions to answer about the material. (5 min.)
VI. Guide students into a cooperative lab, cooperative project, independent assignment, and/or independent project. (15 min.)
VII. End class with discussion/exit quiz card and clean-up. (5 min.)
