This presentation compiled all the data and questions I asked in my survey. The questions pertained to experiences random, anonymous respondents had regarding any discrimination or biases they experienced in the healthcare setting.
  2. Promoting Health Equity Brochure Promoting Health Equity Brochure
This project consisted of incorporating research done on implicit bias in healthcare and health equity, in addition to survey results conducted by myself, into an educational brochure provided to my internship site for the volunteers and health professionals to have.

My internship site was St. Mary Health Center - a non-profit clinic for low-income or uninsured patients in downtown Wilmington, NC.

I was a health equity intern who evaluated discrimination in the healthcare setting and implemented strategies to promote equity in the healthcare setting.

Additionally, I was able to work hands-on with the local uninsured population with volunteer doctors and dentists to evaluate health disparities and shadow their medical techniques.

Note: Due to COVID-19, the UNCW university system decided to discontinue internship placements within our college to protect students from potential exposure. This resulted in me having only about 80 hours of in-person intern hours and the rest completed via CEPH assignments. I was still able to complete my internship project with a few tweaks.
