Teachers everywhere struggle with the same problem: lack of time. Finding and thinking of creative lessons takes up the majority of teacher's time. Well, with the use of technology and the Internet, teacher's can now more easily and more speedily find lessons and free up some of their time. I have searched and found three great websites teachers can use as resources. Technology is here to stay and teachers everywhere should use it to their advantage.

Arizona Geographic Alliance

you.GIF Arizona Geopgraphic Alliance is dedicated to helping teachers combine geography, reading, and writing into lesson plans. Sample lesson plans, AZ geography standards, and free printable maps are also available to teachers. This is a great way to find creative lessons that comply with AZ standards.

Shodor Interactive Site

Shodor Interactive Site has many lesson plan ideas as well as interactive math activities online that students can use at their disposal. This site is wonderful for integrating technology into the math curriculum and is a wonderful way to actively engage students in the learning process. This site is wonderful for elementary aged students.

National Library for Virtual Manipulatives

num.JPG The National Library for Virtual Manipulatives is great for k-12 graders. The online activities are broken down based on categories, (ex: counting, algebra, ect...), which makes it fast and efficient for teachers to find exactly what they are looking for. Math standards are also given on this site which helps teachers maintain focus. Also, this is another great site for lesson plans.

NCTM Interactive Tools

lb.JPG NCTM Interactive Tools is created by, The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, which is a public voice of math education, leadership, and professional development to support teachers in making sure students receive the best mathematic education possible. Only the best tried and practiced ideas make there way on this site, which allows teachers the best resources available.

The Learning Page...especially for teachers

g.GIF The Learning Page offers teacher created, teacher tested lesson plans applicable to elementary-aged children. All of the lessons were compiled by the Library of Congress, which means that only the best lessons were selected. Also included, are on-line interactive activities that can compliment any lesson plan. Games, puzzles, and collaberative projects are among the many interactive activities offered at this site. Lastly, this site offers opportunities for teachers to enhance their professional development. This site is a wonderful resource for the elementary school teacher.

The Math Forum: school teacher's place

The Math Forum: Teaching that math can be enjoyable is possible and this website can help. Ideas, resources, teacher chats, activities, projects, and fun sites for kids are offered at the Math Forum. Also, for math questions teachers might have, the question and answer section with Dr. Math is at their disposal. With so many ideas and helpful hints, teaching math will no longer be a struggle after using The Math Forum.

Technology for Teachers

ttt.JPG Technology for Teachers is a great teacher resource in regards to technology. Many great links are given to help teachers and their students effectively search on the Internet. For example, the Weather Channel, CNN, and Yahooligans are some of the many wonderful links on this page that teachers can use at their disposal. Teachers everywhere can benefit from this site. I know I will use it to help me plan lessons for my future students.

4 Teachers is another great teacher resource in the area of technology. This site helps teachers integrate technology into their curriculum by having easy access to a variety of teacher tools such as rubrics, quizzes, and calendars. 4 Teachers also has professional development opportunities in all areas including bilingual education, ELL, and special needs. Teachers lives can be a lot easier with the help of 4 Teachers.

DLTK Teacher's Page

creative.JPG DLTK Teacher's Page is best for helping teachers with the creative side of teaching. To help teachers decorate the classroom, bulletin board ideas are given. To help teachers with their lessons, math, literature, and science projects are presented. Interactive games are also available at this site. For example, helping students learn time is easy with a Time-Clock On-Line Game. Every teacher who wants to spice up their teaching, should check out this wonderful site designed with teachers in mind.

The Teacher's Corner

The Teacher's Corner has everything teachers are looking for. Ideas for thematic units, lesson plans and seasonal activities are shared. Plus, there is a section called, Book Nook, where lots of good quality children's literature books are listed for teachers to use in their classrooms. Other features include teacher resource guides and what is known as, Teacher's Lounge, where teachers nationwide share ideas among one another. This site is perfect for teachers, especially elementary teachers.
