As part of the cultural diversity class, we have researched various information regarding relevant educational topics. Some of the topics discussed were Bilingual Education, Gender, Mastery Learning, and Cooperative learning. I had the opportunity to research Mastery Learning and display the information I collected in a one-page handout. This two-column handout with pictures explains Mastery Learning and educates the reader on how teachers can incorporate this learning strategy into their classrooms. While I performed my service learning at Blackwater Community School, I saw firsthand how Mastery Learning works. Instead of giving children grades of A, B, C, D, or F, students either receive mastery or non-mastery. Mastery Learning is used so that labeling students as high achievers and failures are eliminated, and where equality can exist. </i>
