- At Hamilton High School, I had the opportunity to help judge a science fair contest for fifth graders. I used a standard rubric and helped award the winner of the fair.
</LI></UL> - I planned and prepared a reader response activity for second graders at Humphrey Elementary School with a Dr. Seuss book. This event was to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday and to remember him.

- I was able to go up to Heber, AZ for three days with Chandler-Gilbert, MCC, and Phoenix college students where we were taught how to be better leaders. We attended workshops and listened to various guest speakers.
Teachers of Tomorrow Organization</FONT> - At CGCC, I am involved in this organization designed for future teachers. I hold the leadership position as Public Relations Director. Among my many responsibilities some of them are the following: create awareness of events around campus, create flyers, and I created and maintain our organization's website.
Geoliteracy Workshop
- This all day workshop informed teachers and future teachers on how to integrate reading, writing, and geography into lesson plans. At the end of the day, I was given a cd with 85 lesson plans that I can use in the future.

- A panel discussed illegal immigration issues
Panelist for an E-port Conference - I sat on a panel with four other Maricopa community college students to discuss my e-portfolio. The audience were college professors and others interested in incorporating e-port into the curriculum.
Student Panel at Information Night
- I was on a panel for Freshman Information Night and shared personal experiences regarding Education Learning Communities at Chandler-Gilbert Community College
Tom Horne Presentation
- Tom Horne addressed current educational issues facing Arizona schools
Linda Laneback Presentation - Linda Laneback, 2005 Teacher of the Year Ambassador spoke to us about how teachers affect students who live in high poverty areas. She talked about having high expectations for these students and for never giving up hope.
Cindy Chovich Presentation
- Cindy Chovich, 2004 Teacher of the Year Ambassador spoke to us about how teachers make a difference. She was very motivating and increased my desire to become an educator.
Joe Thomas Presentation
- Joe Thomas, a represenative from the NEA, (National Education Association), shared information about the benefits of being in a teacher union. He also discussed the student programs NEA offers for preservice teachers.
Walk-A-Thon Fundraiser
- I participated in a three mile walk around campus to help raise money for education major scholarships
Democratic Debate
- Five represenatives voiced the views of the Democratic Presedential candidates for the 2004 election
Hunger Banquet
- I was taught about the problems with world hunger and did an assimilation activity to help me understand how it feels to really be hungry.
Teaching Conference at South Mountain Community College
- I attended an all day conference in which I went to a variety of classes on how to better myself as an educator. Also, speakers discussed specific strategies that help teachers teach.
Second Annual Teachers Conference at Estrella Mountain Community College
- I attended workshops that taught me how to better communicate with parents and strategies on how to survive my first year of teaching. Once again, this all-day conference was very helpful.
Drumstick Dash Scholarship Fundraiser
- To support the ASU East fundraiser, I provided child care for the participants.
</LI></UL> - Each Sunday, I am in charge of teaching a lesson to 10-11 year old girls. Throughout the week, I must plan and prepare my lesson. This experience has helped me practice teaching.
