Educational Psychology takes an inside look on theorists' beliefs in regards to children. Among the many theorists, I have learned about Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, Vygotsky's Culture beliefs, and Piaget's four developmental stages of children. This information is beneficial for me as a future teacher, because by learning how children think and develop, I can better understand my students and challenge them just enough to increase their cognitive development. Now, not only have I learned about theorists in this class, I also was able to observe and watch these theories in action. I attended an elementary school in Mesa where I observed a third grade class. You can learn more about my findings in this setting by reading my observation and analysis papers. Theories are a part of education and I cannot wait until I can develop my own theories inside my classroom.
