Nicole E. Fernandes
My name is Nicole Fernandes, and I have been a certified School Psychologist for eight years. Currently I work as a middle school psychologist responsible for approximately 650 students in lower Westchester County, NY. Prior to working in New York, I was a Middle School Psychologist for two years in Connecticut. As a school psychologist, I work closely with teachers, parents, and administrators to ensure that students are able to learn in an environment that is suited to their learning as well as their social and emotional needs.
I have chosen to pursue a degree in Educational Leadership because of my interest in Special Education law and best practices. Having worked for several years with both Special Education and General Education students, I have had the opportunity to see firsthand the importance of strong leadership in ensuring the success of students. A strong leader must not only hold high academic expectations, but be able to promote collaboration among staff and be knowledgeable about the principles of education in New York State. It is my hope that I will be able to use the skills I have acquired over the course of this program to pursue a position as a Director of Special Education/Pupil Personnel Services.
Thank you for taking the time to read my portfolio.
