Since I have enrolled in the Educational Leadership Program at Lehman College, I have experienced many different leadership experiences throughout my school.  Since I am fortunate enough to work in a 6-12th grade school, I have done the majority of my internship hours here. One of the things that I have enjoyed tremendously is working with the high school teachers.  I often do not get to visit the third and fourth floor of my building but have been able to do so since working towards completing my intership hours.

I have lead many Individualized Educational Plan meetings with middle school and high school teachers. These meeting have opened my eyes to the many facets of Special Education.  Through these meetings I have learned many parents do not know how to advocate for their child.  They do not know what their child really needs in an educational setting. With the help of the staff and myself we do our best to inform the parents of their child needs.

I also have worked on scheduling students for the upcoming school year.  I had a previous sample this summer when I helped program the middle school students schedules.  We are working on individualizing all students programs.  It is a lot more complicated than I thought.  It is something that I will continue to work on even after my intership hours are completed.
