“Students empowering communities, communities empowering students.”

Global Brigades is part of the world’s leading student-led health and sustainable development organization. Each year Global Brigades mobilizes thousands of university students around the world to participate in nine different skills-based programs to improve the quality of life in under-resourced communities.

Global Brigades offers 9 different 7-9 day brigade programs in Ghana, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama, addressing needs in health and economic development. Each program has been developed in union with community members and students to empower community members and leaders, while engaging students to deliver high impact solutions. Each brigade consists of about 15-20 volunteers, depending on the program, and is organized through student chapters on university campuses.

Global Brigades works toward the ultimate goal of supporting communities become independent of the resources provided by brigades. Through a combination of selected programs and supplementary projects, each community has a unique plan to empower community leaders and build community infrastructure to become sustainable and no longer need the help of brigades.

Their Vision:

"To improve equality of life by igniting the largest student-led social responsibility movement on the planet."

Their Mission:

"To empower volunteers and under-resourced communities to resolve global health and economic disparities and inspire all involved to collaboratively work towards an equal world."
