The Things That Are Good for You

Rationale

Context:  This lesson plan was written by myself for a class on health education, I was taking while attending Appalachian State University.  This lesson was written to fit the criteria of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. 

Impact:  I would use this lesson to teach young students about how to make healthy decisions regarding what to eat and how much to exercise.  Students would perform the activities in a whole group setting to help assure in complete understanding and knowledge gain.  This lesson could also be adapted to meet the needs of special needs students or more advances students.

Alignment:

  • NCDPI Standard 5, Indicator 1:   have met this standard by providing a lesson plan that teaches the foundations of good health in a way that allows students to understand the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and practice the skills required to live one.
  • NCDPI Standard 1, Indicator 6:  I have met this standard by providing appropriate literature to help support the personal growth of students while they learn about leading a healthier lifestyle.
