Teacher Classroom Web Page

Rationale

Context:  This web page was created during the Fall semester 2005, in my Technology class with the help of my professor and peers.  The material for my calendar page, homework page and medial literacy activity was accessed through my internship at Green Valley Elementary School in the second grade.  This web page has been modified and adapted throughout the semester to keep it up to date.

Impact:  I would use a teachers web page to allow students and parents to always have access to important classroom activities, assignments and up coming events.  I would post homework assignments, on going projects, information pertaining to field trips, school wide events or classroom activities that require parent help.  My web page also contains informational web site links as well as fun, exciting and age appropriate web sites for students.

Alignment:

  • NETS-T II-E  I met this standard by formulating a student's homework page where students and parents can access assignments as well as informational links that provide useful resources for homework help.
  • NETS-T II-C  This standard was met when I researched many children's web sites in order to find fun, exciting, age appropriate web sites to link to my student's page.  Student will be able to access these pages free from parent help or supervision without any concerns of inappropriate material.
  • NETS-T V-A  By researching web sites that were appropriate and relevant for parents and other teachers I have met this standard.  Parents will be able to continue to develop and grow as their child goes through school.  Resources for homework help and other pertinent information has been provided for parents.
  • NETS-T VI-A  I have met the standard of modeling and teaching legal and ethical practices related to the use of technology in my classroom by gaining permission from parents to use any technology, including photos and videos, for educational purposes in regards to their student.  I have linked the appropriate permission forms to the web page.
  • NETS-T VI-C  By providing the permission form for parents in Spanish as well as English, I have met this standard.
  • NETS-T IV-B  Through my gender roles in the media study, I have met this standard.  By collecting and analyzing the data I was able get gain enough information to conclude results that will become known to parents and other teachers.  These results will help improve instructional practices by making parents, teachers and students aware of the biases found.  Student learning will be improved because teachers and parents will be more educated in the matter.
  • NETS-T II-B  I have met this standard by researching current materials and essays written on the subject matter I have studied, gender roles, using internet resources.  Research had been done prior to my interviewing allowing my to have knowledge and background information that helped to guide and formulate questions.
