Rationale

Context:  In my FDN3100 class I used a web page builder accessed through Geocities.com.  The web page I created can be viewed at www.geocities.com/fowler7688/.  The title of my web page is Over the River and Through the Woods on Ms. Fowler’s Forest Adventure You’ll go.  I uploaded pictures of forests and trees for the background.  I used clip art and photos to help engage visitors to the site.       

Impact:  The web page is designed for a forth grade class or other teachers and parents that wish to access the material provided.  The web page is an interactive forest adventure where teacher, parents and students will learn about forests, types of trees that grow in forest, a little bit about wildlife and plants as well as how they can become actively involved with preserving the forests or just having fun in them.  I will use this web page as a way to get students excited and engaged while studying about our world eco system.  It will also provide fun activities and games for students to do at home with parents or in the classroom with a friend. 

Alignment:

•  NETS-T IA I have met this standard in that I have learned basic skills of technology by making this web page and by taking FDN3100 in the spring semester of 2005 at Appalachian State University.  I have learned word processing, web page construction, PowerPoint, Microsoft Publisher, and spreadsheets with Microsoft Excel. 
• NETS-T IB and VA were met because I have used a current web page composer, Geocities, to make a web page I can use when I teach.  I can add to this web page when I have my own classroom; I will be able to keep this free web space as long as I wish.  I met competency VC because having a web page will make me a more productive teacher; having information in web page form is an easy and efficient way to organize information. 
• NETS-T VD was met in that I can use this web page to give information about a subject area to future students and their families.
