Rationale

Context:  This document was created during the Spring semester, 2005 while I was attending Appalachian State University.  Through the help of many internet resources and reference books I accessed the material needed to complete this paper.  This document contains information, facts and opinions, on the topic of diversity in the classroom.  Issues such as understanding families, communities and different cultures, guiding students to rational solutions while dealing with controversial problems (including race related problems), exploring and respecting other viewpoint and ways of life while dealing with the educational process.

Impact:  This paper and research has helped me to become aware of controversial issues present in our school system and communities.  I will use this information to help myself be respectful and knowledgeable about various cults, particularly those represented in my classroom, their families and the cultures in which they live in.  This research will help be better understand the learning and educational styles of all my students.
