Letter from Host Teacher

To Whom it May Concern,

It is a pleasure to be writing you letter of recommendation for Ashley Freije.  She was my student teacher at Southport High School during the spring semester of 2013-14 school year.

Ashley did an outstanding job given that this year was the first time that our school used a variation of a block schedule and was going through construction during her time here.  I too was learning how this schedule was going to work and she was able to adapt quickly on how to design her lessons for block scheduling and create a unique way to keep organized. Ashley also had the task of prepping for multiple classes and learning how to differentiate her instruction for each class. Her lessons were very detail oriented and followed our districts evaluation model (TAP) which gave her a sense of the teacher evaluation process.

It was very refreshing having a student teacher that truly wants to be a great teacher.  She was one of the first people to arrive in the morning and one of the last to leave in the evening.   She went out of her way to learn from other teachers in our department and ask them questions about discipline in the classroom or they might teach a certain content area.  Ashley recognized that each student has a different learning style so it was important for her to experiment with different methods of instruction to try and meet the student’s needs.  Not all of these were successful, but she adapted her lessons and would try again.  This is something even experience educators struggle with and Ashley did a great job.

Ashley was willing to go the extra mile to make a difference in the classroom.  Her work ethic and zeal for the teaching profession would make her an asset for any school district.

If you would like to contact me to discuss Ashley’s credentials in more detail, I can be reached at school (317) 789-4901 or via email at bdugger@msdpt.k12.in.us.

Sincerely,
