Economics

Anyone know what this is? Class? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone seen this before? The Laffer Curve. Anyone know what this says? It says that at this point on the revenue curve, you will get exactly the same amount of revenue as at this point. This is very controversial. Does anyone know what Vice President Bush called this in 1980? Anyone? Something-d-o-o economics. "Voodoo" economics.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

[2014-2015]

[Class location]

Instructor: Ms. Ashley Freije [Office, e-mail, phone]

Office Hours: I will remain after school until at least 3 p.m. every day. Other meeting

times upon request.

Class website:

I. Rationale:

1. You need this to graduate. 2. Economics affects every aspect of your life.

II. Course Aims and Outcomes:

Aims

Students will understand basic aspects of economics as well as how to interpret these aspects. Students will also learn the basics of market structures, fiscal policy, and trade.

III. Format and Procedures:

You are expiated to treat each other and me with respect. You don’t have to like each other or me, but you have to be polite. Students will not talk during lecture unless it is a discussion section. Students will be expected to participate on a daily basis. NO ELECTRONICS ARE TO BE USED IN THE CLASSROOM UNLESS FOR NOTE TAKING OR AS INSTRUCTED BY THE TEACHER.

IV.  My Assumptions

You are seniors, and I expect you to act as such. Come to class prepared. That means with your textbook, homework, and something to take notes with. Students will not be allowed to leave the classroom to retrieve items they forgot.

V. Course Requirements:

Class attendance and participation policy:  Students should make every attempt to notify the teacher of a forceable absence. Students are responsible for asking for all work missed. I will not follow you around to give it to you. All exams will be taken as scheduled. Students will have enough notice of exams that they should be prepared to take it the day it is scheduled (if absent the day before) or the first day back from an absence (if absent on exam day). Students will have one class period to turn in missed homework and two days to complete missed exams.

V. Grading Procedures: Grades

Grades will be based on an A-F scale as follows:

100%- A+

99%-91% - A

90% - A-

89% - B+

88-81% - B

80% - B-

79% - C+

78%-71% - C

70% - C-

69%  D+

68%-61% - D

60% - D+

59% - 0% - F

Your grade will be made up of daily homework and quizzes, class projects, exams, participation,  and any extra credit completed.

VI. Academic Integrity

Plagiarism is bad. Very bad. As in, DO NOT DO IT EVER FOR ANY REASON EVER. If a student is caught copying from another student, both students will receive a zero on the assignment. Any student caught plagiarizing for an assignment will be subject to the district rules of academic integrity and shall receive appropriate punishment up to and including failure of the class

VII. Accommodations for students with disabilities

Students with disabilities will receive the appropriate accommodations according to their individual learning plan.
