Here are mine: Essential Questions for Assistive Technology The Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America, (RESNA) offers general certification as an Assistive Technology Practitioner (ATP) or as an Assistive Technology Supplier (ATS). To take the exam for certification, candidates need only GED, 30 hours of continuing education in Assistive Technology and job experience. What qualifications should one have in order to perform an evaluation on a student who needs Assistive Technology? Would you feel qualified?
What would you expect in a student’s performance as a result of Assistive Technology?
How would one evaluate the effectiveness of an Assistive device? Who should be responsible or answering these questions and documenting the answers?
Should teachers be forced to implement an Assistive Technology deviced that they do not want to use? Should the union support a teacher’s refusal to implement Assistive Technology?
If you felt a student of yours would benefit from an Assistive Technology device, what steps would you take to advocate for this student?
