For our Fall Presentation about a current social justice issue, I chose to explore barriers to healthcare in the United States. As a psychology major and hopeful future healthcare professional, I have always been interested in health care ethics and the access to healthcare resources in the United States. This is also important to me because many residents at Misericordia are affected by these barriers. In my project, I explored a brief history of the development of health care in the United States and then focused on three types of Barriers to Health Care:  Financial, Structural, and Cognitive, as well as ways to combat them.
