Context: During my Block I internship in Lauren Hines' second grade class at Lenoir School of Technology, I completed multiple interviews and observations, both with Ms. Hines and her students. These experiences, and particularly the interview with Ms. Hines, gave me valuable insights into the teaching profession and encouraged me to observe other veteran teachers to improve my own teaching ability. Impact: As a teacher, I will welcome the opportunity to be observed by other professionals in my field, and I will also be encouraged to continue researching effective teaching styles and the application of best practices in my own classroom.
Alignment: I have met the following NCDPI standards:
Standard 16 -
- Indicator 6 because having seen the success of my observation experience, I will encourage other professionals to observe me. I will value and apply the feedback they share, and I will become a better teacher because of it.
- Indicator 8 because this was a great opportunity for me to research effective teaching practices, and even today, I use many of the techniques and activities that I saw during my observations.
- Indicator 9 because my interview showed me the importance of collaboration between teachers; watching other professionals improved my own teaching ability, and this is a practice that I will continue for years to come.
