Context: I completed an extensive science methods exam given by Ms. Gail Bastarache during the Fall 2005 semester.  I used the information I had learned throughout her class and referenced the internet to find the answers to her questions.

Impact: As a teacher I will be expected to teach science, which can be an enjoyable experience for both student and teacher if taught by someone knowledgeable and familiar with the resources at her disposure.  Researching and completing this exam was helpful because it undoubtedly prepared me to do the same in my classroom.

Alignment: I have met the following NCDPI standards:

Standard 3 -

• Indicator 1 because in my exam, I have discussed the characteristics of living organisms and touched briefly on the life cycles and functions of plants and animals.
• Indicator 3 because I have answered a question about the changing of the seasons based on information that I learned throughout my science class.  My knowledge of the earth's tilt and rotation also guided me in correctly answering this question.
