Newsletter

Newsletter

Context: Using Microsoft Publisher, I created a newsletter introducing myself to my sixth grade class at Blue Ridge Elementary.  I included pictures that were scanned onto the computer and inserted into the newsletter, adding a personal element to the written information.  This newsletter is written for a sixth grade class, but it could be used by teachers or students to share information within the classroom or with the entire school.

Impact: When I teach, I will be able to use this newsletter as a fun way to introduce myself to my new class.  I can use this format to send information home to parents or to the principal, or we could create a newsletter as a class to share stories and pictures with the entire school.

Alignment: I have met the following standards:

  • NETS-T standard V-C because I can use this newsletter for communicating quickly and efficiently with parents, faculty, administration and even my students.
  • NETS-T standard V-D because this newsletter is a great way to communicate with the people in my school and surrounding community.  Having my students involved in meaningful activities within the community will nurture student learning, and a newsletter is an ideal way to foster cooperation between the school and community.
