Indicator 6

Context: I worked independently to explore the five themes of geography in an assignment given by Dr. Eric Groce in his Social Studies Methods class. 

Impact: I will constantly be relying on my own knowledge to teach social studies to my class, and this assignment is proof that I understand the concepts I will be teaching, and a good resource for me to review in the future. 

Alignment: I have met the following NCDPI standards:

Standard 4

  • Indicator 6 because in my assignment, I have explored and recorded the five themes of geography as they relate to a single place (Redding, California).  I've had to use my map and chart skills to interpret the data I was using, and I've included an overview of environmental issues and concerns surrounding my location.
