When I think of my philosophy of teaching, I can't help but to notice that it reflects my philosophy of living. I live each day as if there are always new things to learn and discover. The classroom is no different. We are all teachers and we are all learners. Overall, I want to guide my students to commit to lifelong learning and personal growth. I want my students to see the beauty in life that surrounds them and inspire them to do the best they can.
I, as a teacher, am a facilitator for learning. My goal is to set the stage for learning by providing a calm environment and a creative environment in which students can express themselves during the learning process. When there is interest and motivation without the fear of condemnation, learning will take place. Motivation and feedback are critical for this learning process, therefore they are key elements that I provide in my teaching.
Each student is an individual and each student has his/her own learning style. I strive to honor these learning styles and abilities with sensitivity and respect. Patience is important in the classroom, and this is where it plays a big role. Patience and accommodations with student frustrations will need support and encouragement, and I am always willing to provide both.
