Newsletter

Context:

This newsletter was created for CI 3750, Integrating Media and Technology into Teaching, Spring 2007, under the instruction of Mary Rogers.

The assignment was created for my placement classroom for the Practicum to take place from March 19th to April 18th.  The materials used to create the newsletter were Microsoft Publisher and a digital camera.

Impact on Student Learning:

The newsletter was designed as an introduction of me to the class.  It also was an introduction to the parents of the students, and provides contact information.  The newsletter also provided a visual of me presently and a picture of me as a child.

Alignment:

This unit met the following North Carolina DPI Elementary Education Specialty Area Standards and the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) for All Teachers:

NCDPI Standard 16, Indicator 3:  Teachers communicate with parents, guardians, and caretakers to build partnerships between home and school.

  • This indicator was met by the newsletter as a whole, as well as the inclusion of contact information.

NETS-T V-C:  Teachers apply technology to increase productivity.

  • This standard was met by the production of the newsletter in Microsoft Publisher.

NETS-T V-D:  Teachers use technology to communicate and collaborate with peers, parents, and the larger community in order to nurture student learning.

  • This standard was met because the newsletter is designed to set up communication with the parent, as well as a way for the students to get to know me.
