Context:

This webpage was created under the instruction of Mary Rogers in CI 3750, Integrating Media and Technology into the Classroom, during the 2007 Spring semester.  The webpage is designed as a tool for the students and parents of a second grade class at Forest Hill Elementary School and was compliled during my internship at the school.

The technology used to create this webpage includes TaskSteam, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, and the World Wide Web. 

Impact:

The webpage serves as a visual representation of my internship, as well as a way to keep students and parents informed on what is going on.  The website not only includes information about what is going on in the class, but it also has many internet resources for parents and students. The resources range from fun games for students to health and safety information for parents. 

Also included in the webpage are websites with practice for each subject we studied, as well as websites that provide research tools and search engines. 

Alignment:

This assignment met the following National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) for All Teachers:

NETS-T II-E: Plan strategies to manage student learning in a technology-enhanced environment.

• This standard was met through the homework page that is provide on the webpage.  There are links for each subject that were chosen to enhance student learning with the use of the internet.

NETS-T II-C: Identify and locate technology resources and evaluate them for accuracy and suitability.

• By including a student webpage and a parent webpage, this standard was met.  All of the websites included on these pages were chosen with the parent or student in mind. 

NETS-T V-A: Use technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.

NETS-T VI-A: Model and teach legal and ethical practice related to technology use.

• This standard is met within the webpage by the inclusion of the media release forms for the gallery.  The media release forms were given to the students to have the parents sign and were both in English and Spanish.  

NETS-T VI-C: Identify and use technology resources that affirm diversity.

• This standard was met by providing the media release forms in both Spanish and English.

NETS-T IV-B: Use technology resources to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate findings to improve instructional practice and maximize student learning.

NETS-T II-B: Apply current research on teaching and learning with technology when planning learning environments and experiences.

•  This standard is met within the media literacy page. This page is designed to educate parents, teachers, and other educators on how to be media literate. It includes annotated links to articles and websites that focus on media literacy at home, in the classroom, and how to interpret what is seen.

NETS-T V-B: Continually evaluate and reflect on professional practice to make informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of student learning.

• This standard was met with the reflection included on the webpage.  The reflection is designed for a look back on my teaching experience at Forest Hill Elementary.
