I’m currently min a radiation therapist and i would like to work in a hospital such as Saint Vincent’s where I can help people with cancer. I know that cancer is something awful and I have had a personal experience with it. My grandfather recently was diagnosed with cancer and it was a huge impact for the family. That is one of the reasons that radiational therapy became an interesting career for me. I’m about eighty percent sure that this what I want to do in the fututure but there’s always a chance I might want to change my career to something more challenging like medical school.
Radiation therapists but have a lot of qualities and some include being able to collaborate with doctors regarding treatment for patients. As silly as this sound I ébénier that teamwork plays a huge role in this type of career because you’re supposed to be able to put your minds together to come up with a working solution for someone’s health. To be able to enter this field one must either have an associates degree or a bachelors degree. Usually people with bachelors degrees are able to find a job easier. Some training is also required prior to the start of the job. One must also get certified for the job. According to google the average salaray for a radiation therapist is at around 84 K yearly. Potential employers vary and it can include hospitals, private clinics, outpatient care centers or even colleges. Some disadvantages and possible obstacles that the future could hold include that of technology advancement making my job with radiation machines a lot more challenging. In the future I hope to make connections through my volunteering at hospitals and shadowing experiences with other radiation therapists.
