Newsletter

Newsletter Rationale

Context:

This newsletter was created for CI 3750, Integrating Media and Technology into Teaching, during the Spring of 2007. It was created under the advisement of Mary Rogers. This newsletter was sent home with students during my spring internship..

Impact:

This newsletter was sent home with students during my spring internship in the Spring of 2007. As a result of the newsletter, students and parents were informed of the dates I am interning in their classroom. They also received a little information pertaining to my background and some interesting facts about myself. The newsletter also contained a section with a list of books I personally enjoy and recommend to the students.

Alignment:

  • NCDPI Standard 16 Indicator 3: This standard deals with teachers communicating with parents and guardians. It was met by providing the parents and guardians of the students in my class with information, not only pertaining to the dates I will be in the classroom, but also with a little information about myself and my background.
  • NETS-T V-C: This standard deals with using technology to increase productivity. It was met because I used technology, including Microsoft Publisher, Photoshop, and a scanner, to create an aesthetically appealing and informative newsletter for my students. The technology I used made the process of creating the newsletter more efficient and simpler.
  • NETS-T V-D: This standard deals with teachers using technology to communicate with peers and parents in order to encourage student learning. I used technology to create a professional looking and informative newsletter. I used technology to communicate with others in an appealing and efficient way. The newsletter was created to not only communicate with parents who I am, but also to encourage student learning through the section on enjoyable children's books that I recommend.
