November 23, 2009

Dear Kindergarten Parents,

In religion this week we will be talking about the Thanksgiving Story.  We will be talking about the many blessings that God gives to us.

In math we will count groups of objects up to eight.  We will practice printing numbers up to eight.

In reading we will continue to work in Letterbook F.  Continue to review the names and sounds of the letters that we have had.  Practice sounding out the words that we have had in the Letterbooks.

In English we will talk about naming words for animals.

In science we will talk about different kinds of weather patterns.  We will talk about the kind of weather we have in spring and summer and the different activities people do during these seasons.

In art we will color a Thanksgiving picture and begin to make decorations for our room for December.

In music we will continue to work on songs for our play.  We will be working on songs for the Christmas Service.  We will be practicing in the gym with the other grades.

Those who usually have Show and Tell on Thursday, will have Show and Tell on Wednesday this week.

Book It Verification Forms for November will be due Monday, November 30.  The forms for January will be sent home Monday and will be due Monday, January 4.

Monday, November 30, we will be painting the Christmas Story on our windows.  Besides being a fun art project, it is a reminder to those who pass our school that the real meaning of Christmas is Jesus’ Birthday.  This will be a non-uniform day for Kindergarten.

If your child cannot tie his/her shoes, please work on this with him/her.  We do not tie shoes after Christmas.

There is no school Thursday, November 26 or Friday, November 27  - Thankgsgiving Break.

Our Thanksgiving services are Wednesday, November 25 at 7:00 P.M. and Thursday, November 26 at 9:00 A.M.

A couple of dates to help you plan ahead – Wednesday, December 16, both classes will be at school 8:30 – 3:15 because of the dress rehearsal for the Wednesday Night Christmas Service.  Friday, December 18, both classes will be at school 8:30 – 12:00 because of the dress rehearsal for the Christmas Eve Service and our Christmas party.  I will put more information in my next letter.

Any questions or concerns, please call.

May you and yours have a blessed Thanksgiving!

 In His Service,

 Mrs. Koehlert
