Context:

I created this web page in my GS-4401 class during Block II.  Jeff Goodman helped us create this.  This web page includes a list of other websites that will help a teacher teach matter in a science classroom.  The first website is used for a teacher reference.  This website provides information for teachers to learn a little more about the subject.  It gives the information in a clear and precise way.  There is a quiz at the end of the web page to quiz yourself.  This is a good website to look at before introducing the subject to the students.  The next website was selected for students.  This website is brought to you by Chem4Kids.  This website explains everything about the phases of matter in a kid-friendly way.  The website is also very interesting to the kid's eye.  There are lots of pictures and examples shown.  There is also a quiz that students can take at the end of each page, before they go on to the next page.  Each page is divided up in to the phases of matter.  I feel that this is a good website for students to use while learning about the phases of matter.  The next website that I selected to share is good for real-life application about matter in the classroom.  United Streaming produced it and it has a variety of educational videos and activities on it.  This specific website provides a video, which is also divided up into segments, on Matter and Its Properties.  This will be a good way to teach the students about the subject because they will be able to watch and hear about all the types of matter.  There are also related materials that go along with the videos on this website.  I added an extra website for students to visit when they have extra time or it could be used as a center.  This interactive learning website gives students a way to review about phases of matter by using a computer website.  The website asks the students questions and shows examples of matter.

Impact:

This project allowed me practice researching websites to use in the classroom.  By making this web page and having these websites, I also have learned a little more about matter.  I will hopefully be able to use this web page in the classroom.  If I am in a grade that learns about matter, I will use these websites to help students learn.

Alignment:

By creating this web page, I was able to meet the DPI Standard 3, Indicator 2.  This standard states that teachers will have the knowledge of basic physical science concepts.  The web page included multiple websites that taught me more about matter, which is a basic physical science concept.
