How Did The White Culture Effect The Black Culture Through Fashion
Where did fashion come from is a good question to know. Well I’m going to talk to you about how culture and how different ethnic backgrounds influence other cultures. Charles Frederick Worth was the first initial creator of fashion design. He quickly established his first fashion house in the city of Paris. There where also other designers like lewis who opened up multiple fashion houses in London, New York, and Kingston, Jamaica. Those cities were known for being trend setters among the English-Speaking areas which many blacks have settled in. Everywhere pencil skirts, straight legs, and ruffled tops with heals the basic couture look.
Pencil skirts are great for every shape. If your short you should most likely tend towards ones with length 2” above your knees. The ruffled look that came out in the mid 80’s has evolved into a business of classy type of look. Many cultures such as the African-American race has took on this type of high class look in a business setting which gives a scene of respect. Fashion developed over a period of time dating back to cave man days and because of this people have expanded on it more for example. Some of the biggest fashion houses where made in China, Asia, and Europe. Tom ford owned them all and displayed multiple collections during 1977 and his 96 collection. Chelsea turner a high fashion designer started the wave of skinny leg jeans. She always had a fetish of showing her curves so she said that’s what gave her the idea of coming up with the design. Fashion is important because it allows you to express yourself and for all different cultures to show off there backgrounds talents. It also allows enables you to say something to the world with out even opening your mouth.
My benchmark was to talk about how to analyze the influence of different cultural perspectives on the actions of groups. In my project I talked about how the European race designed a lot of things and came up with multiple trends. Then I talked about how those trends influenced the African-American race, and caused then to be influenced by there style. This is how my project relayed to my topic.

Descriptive Essay
This image shows trade routes through time of how fashion evolved over time. Where did fashion come from is a mystery to many. Facts show that many fashion trends started in Nigeria, Africa; the heart of culture and all types of life. The yellow road shows the path in which many people traveled exchanging their ways of life and sharing the way the dressed. It also shows how hot it was and how far people had to travel to get to one another. The red and blue lights show the black and the white cultures influencing one another. The last image expresses how two cultures the white and the black came together exchanging cultural differences.
The black background of the piece shows the hard struggle of how many people want a chance at being a fashion designer or a seamstress, because it truly is a fight for one of those spots today. It shows how the white culture influenced the black culture through fashion and also ways of life. Many blacks now where skinny leg jeans and ruffled tops. Through this image you can see how the black race interacted with the white race taking away the fashion trends and fading back to their homeland to show their native land what they have learned from other cultures.
The black race also influenced the European race in many ways. For example, by the African American women in Nigeria, Africa wearing muumuus during 1989 and most of the men wearing dashiki’s during the 1960’s, fashion has taught the Europeans to take pride in their appearance. In 1989 the trend for wearing muumuus in Berlin, Germany became popular and in style. Many Europeans started wearing muumuus for everyday comfort and because it provided shade against the sun while they worked in fields. It also provided them with comfort and mobility around their house while caring for their children. These outfits are usually very colorful and flamboyant with lots of different patterns. Europeans also started the trend to wear ties with their shirts and suits in the year of 1618 when it was first created by the people of ancient Egypt. By the Europeans starting the trend of the ties and African Americans seen how intelligent they looked they took that idea and blended it with the muumuu’s, causing the trade between the two cultures because each wanted what the other one had. My benchmark was to represent analyzing the consequences of different cultural perspectives on the actions of groups. I displayed how the white and the black cultures came together exchanging cultural differences through trade and fashion and also there ways of life.
1.) What is going well?
I think a lot of stuff in are project is going well. I say this because we have completed a lot of steps all we have left is the building design to start.
2.) what is not going well?
My partner is kind of behind on some of her assignments because her being gone and that's kind of holding use back. But that's basically all.
3.) What do you need to do to make sure that you meet all of your deadlines?
I need to help my partner catch up on what she needs to get done so we can get past this step and get to building our box.
4.) What is your overall impression of the project?
I think its going to come out great once everything is done because we have a good idea of what we want our box to look like.
5.) If you had to rate your progress what score would you give yourself? ( 1-5) 5 being the highest. Why?
I think on my part a five because I have completed all of my steps but my partner would be a 4 because she still has to catch up but that's the only thing I think would be wrong with our group. So are progress as a group is about a 4 1/2.

1.) we had to build the box then we had to put all are materials into it.
2.) i would say a 8 1/2 because it wasnt complietey finished and we had to describe to cultures coming together showing trade.
3.) a picture of a trasde route and leds showing how cultres came togther showing trade through fashion
4.) it was kind of hard going through all the dteps and fustrating as well but at the end it seemed worth it and it taught me alot about my project. and we really kept the pace and thats what i think will make are project turn out well.
5.) pro: becuase all though group projects can be diffucult they can also help you get things done way faster than doing it by yourself.
