First, I have written a Classroom Management Plan for a potential classroom that I will one day be able to call my own. The management plan represents many of the sub-points of Standard 5; however, there are two sub-points that especially are exemplified: "Teachers treat all students fairly and establish an environment that is respectful, supportive and caring," and "Teachers create learning situations in which students work independently, collaboratively and/or as a whole class." The first sub-point correlates with the classroom rules that I have established; in my plan I explain the reasoning behind each rule and give each student a fair and equal opportunity. The second sub-point correlates with the classroom layout that I have provided with my plan. I have arranged the desks in a way that makes it easy for students to not only see the board at the front of the room when the students are learning as a whole class or independently, but the students are in groups of three when I want them to collaboratively work together. Second, I have passed my OAE Assessment of Professional Knowledge: Adolescence to Young Adult. I received a four out of four in every domain: Student Development and Learning; Assessment, Instruction, and the Learning Environment; The Professional Environment; and Constructed Response Assignments. This shows that I know how to create a learning environment in the classroom that is safe for the students and conducive to learning. (File 4)
