Context:
This video was created for CI 3750, Integrating Media and Technology, under the advisement of Mr. Jeff Goodman during the spring semester of 2007. I created this video with Brittany Norris, Rene Harrison, and Jennifer Johnson.
Creating a video based on a book or literary characters will allow students to think more in depth about the subject they choose to do. They will have to think about what the character would do in their story. The students will also become more knowledgeable in using some of the imovie technology when they edit their videos.
Impact:
The video assignment will be a fun and entertaining way for students to understand how to use a video camera, imovie, how to burn their video onto a DVD. The students will be shown how to turn on the camera, how to start and stop recording, how to put in a tape, and how to use a tripod. When the students are finished video taping they will be able to edit everything that they have recorded into a coherent story. They will be able to cut out scenes they didn't need or parts they messed up on. They will add music to fit the mood of their story and credits at the end. When they have finished they will learn how to burn it onto a DVD.
This will also have to analyze their books and work together in a group to figure out what they are going to do for the video.

This assignment met the following North Carolina Standards for Elementary School teachers.
Standard 1: Elementary teachers have a broad knowledge and understanding of the major concepts in English Language Arts and Literacy. Indicator 5: Teachers know and understand that reading is taught as a process of constructing meaning through the interaction of the reader's existing knowledge, the information suggested by the written language, and the context of the reading situation.
Standard 6: Elementary teachers have an understanding of the basic concepts of the arts. Indicator 1: Teachers understand the basic vocabularies, materials, techniques, and thinking processes of each arts discipline (arts, music, theatre, dance.)
