Context: This unit was created for CI 3110, Elementary Science Methods. It was created under the advisement of Dr. Terry Carroll.
The black box lesson was
Impact on Student Learning: This lesson allowed us to teach a science lesson in front of our peers. We were able to get feedback from both the professor and our peers. We were able to see how they responded to the activity we planned. We were also able to see how well our questioning led them to discovery.
Alignment: This unit met the following North Carolina Standards for Elementary School teachers:
Standard 3: Elementary teachers have a broad knowledge and understanding of the major concepts of science.
-Indicator 2: Teachers have knowledge of basic physical science concepts including:
--Systems of measurements, analysis, and interpretation of data
-This indicator was met by questions the class and having them share their findings about what they observed with their black boxes.
