Teacher Educational Background and Bio

Oringinally from New York, I was raised in Tucson.  Most of my elementary years were spent at St. Ambrose School.  Following eighth grade I attended Salpointe Catholic High School, proudly graduating in the class of 1973.  Having felt a call to discern a vocation to the priesthood, I attended St. John’s College Seminary and Theologate in Camarillo, California.  Graduating in 1977 from the college, I spent another year-and-a-half studying theology.

It was during the second year of theology that I felt the Lord directing me to a different vocation.  I left the seminary and then met the person I have now been happily married to for over thirty-two years.  Within that first year of marriage, I was hired at St.  Bonaventura High School in Ventura, California, to use my theological background to teach.  I was also able to complete my M.A. in Religious Studies at St. John’s Seminary.

Following eight years of teaching at all high school grade levels, I was asked to move into administration and went on to receive an M.A. in Educational Administration from California State University, Northridge.  Serving 18 years as vice principal, I still taught a theology class each year and cherished the opportunity to be in the classroom.

After twenty-six years of service at St. Bonaventure High school, I was offered the opportunity to become a Catholic elementary school principal.  I served at two schools in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles during a period of five years.  I decided to return to the classroom as a theeology teacher and accepted a position at Salpointe Catholic for the 2012/13 school year.  After two years of teaching I have been given to opportunity to serve here at Salpointe Catholic as the Assistant Principal for Student Services.  I consider it a blessing to be able to teach this course, keeping a hand in classroom work in the midst of other administrative duties.

My wife Joanne and I  like to work on projects around the house, enjoy good meals, good television shows, along with baseball and golf.  It is a joy and a privilege to be at my alma mater, assisting with the rest of the staff in preparing our students for their future … spreading Lancer values to the local community and beyond.
