John F. Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917, in Brookline, Massachusetts.  He went to college at Harvard University.   

Before he was president he fought in World War Two as an officer in the Navy. He was also a US Senator for the state of Massachusetts.  

In 1954 John Kennedy married Jacqueline Bouvier. 

Kennedy served as president from 1961 to 1963.  His Vice President was Lyndon B. Johnson.

Kennedy was the 35th President of the United States. He was the youngest man ever to be elected president.  He was also the first Catholic president. 

During his presidency he advanced the US space program and set the goal for landing a man on the moon.  Kennedy's presidency was very important to space exploration.  The first man landed on the moon in 1969, 6 years after Kennedy was president. 

President Kennedy also worked hard for Civil Rights during his presidency.  He wanted everyone to be treated equally.

Kennedy started a program called the Peace Corps.  This program helps people in other countries when they need it and still exists today.

President Kennedy was killed while he was visiting Texas by a man named Lee Harvey Oswald in November of 1963. He was assassinated during his first term as president.
