Gerald Ford was born on July 14th, 1913.  He was born in the state of Nebraska, but he grew up in Michigan. He loved to play football and played while he was in high school and college. He was a hard worker who thought education was very important. He went to Yale Law School.

Gerald Ford was in the Navy before he was president and fought during World War Two.  He was also in the House of Representatives.

He married Elizabeth Bloomer Warren in 1948.  They had three sons and one daughter.

He was President of the United States from 1974-1977.  Gerald Ford was not elected president.  He became Vice President under President Richard Nixon.  When President Nixon resigned office (that means he left) in 1974, Gerald Ford became president.  He is the only president who was never elected to office.  Ford was the 38th President of the United States. His Vice President was Nelson Rockefeller.

During his presidency, President Ford pardoned President Nixon.  A pardon means that you are forgiven of any crime you commit.  President Nixon told many lies when he was president, but Ford forgave him.  This was an important part of Ford's presidency.  Many Americans thought it was wrong to forgive President Nixon.

Throughout his presidency Gerald Ford encouraged people to love one another and work together.

President Ford had a dog named Liberty.

President Ford died in 2006.
