John Quincy Adams was born in Quincy, Massachusetts, on July 11, 1767. His father was the second president of the US. Adams graduated from Harvard University in 1787.

Before he was president he was a lawyer in Boston, Massachusetts. He also worked as a minister to the Netherlands. 

John Quincy Adams married Louisa Catherine Johnson in 1797.  They got married in London, England. 

Adams was the sixth President of the US.  He served from 1825 to 1829. His Vice-President was John Calhoun.  He served one term as president.

During his presidency many important roads and canals were built to help the US grow.  The Erie Canal in New York State was finished.  This was important because it connected the Great Lakes which were used for transporting many necessary items. John Quincy Adams was a hard worker who helped the United States of America flourish.
