Using and Creating Audio Tools

The audiobook you have the opportunity to download below is of The Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown. This is my first attempt at narrating an audiobook through the use of iMovie on an iPad. The grade levels that would benifit from this book are Kindergarten through second grade. 

Audiobooks are an important tool to utilize when creating a UDL classroom environment.  Audiobooks both with and without pictures not only benifit students with physical disabilities, but also may assist students who are behind grade level in reading skills. By using a book in an audio format, students are given the freedom and indepence to listen to a book on their own in a self paced learning environment. Audiobooks can also be used to introduce books that may be above the students current independent reading level, as well as help students to develop their listening skills (Johnson, 2003). While students of all learning styles may benefit from the use of these tools, they may work best for students who primarily learn through verbal instruction. Using tools such as these in the classroom demonstrates competence in Standard 2 of the NETS for All Teachers. This is because the tool was created and is available for use for students.
