Favorite Links and Resources

In this section, you will find resources categorized for the use of teachers, parents, and students. These resources are meant to help optimize the educational experience of all who are involved. While each link has been added to a specific category, it is important to keep in mind that many sites could potentially fall under multiple categories. 

Teacher Resources

ABCs (Lg.)

These resources are aimed at educators. These have been chosen so that teachers may not only optimize how they run the classroom, but to successfully help students learn.

    "XtraMath is a free web program that teaches addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts which are critical to success in mathematics." (XtraMath, 2012, p.1). This website allows students to practice math, and adapts to the students mistakes. As the students get questions wrong, those questions will become more frequent. Teachers can monitor student progress.

These web links have been chosen because they are considered "kid friendly". These sites are engaging and helpful for students of various ages, as well as teachers and parents. Students may navigate these sites to have fun while they learn.

These web links have been chosen for parents due to their helpful nature. These sites will provide parents with the resources they need in order to help their children to learn at home.

  1. FunBrain FunBrain
    "Parents can trust Funbrain to deliver a fun and safe experience for even the youngest children. The Playground helps parents introduce their preschoolers to the Internet and teaches them how to manipulate the mouse and keyboard. " (FunBrain, 2012, p.1). This website also includes math, reading, and fun arcades that allow parents to help their children to learn concepts. Resources are provided for grade K-8.
  2. Scholastic for Parents Scholastic for Parents
    "The corporate mission of Scholastic is to encourage the intellectual and personal growth of all children, beginning with literacy, the cornerstone of all learning. With more than 90 years of experience supporting the learning lives of children, today Scholastic remains committed to providing quality, engaging educational content in digital and print formats for the next generation of learners, and the families and educators who guide them." (Scholastic, 2012, p.1). Provides resources for parents to help their children to learn to love to read.
  3. Sheppard Software Sheppard Software
