Standard 6 of the NAEYC Standards for early childhood educators states that candidates should behave as professional members of the early childhood profession. Candidates should follow ethical guildelines and standards related to the field. A professional of the early childhood field is continuously seeking new knowledge and working with others to create and reflect upon actions in the field.
Sub-Standard 6a is about identifying and involving oneself with the early childhood field. This is an escential piece in becoming a professional. To become a professional in the field of education, it is important to remain involved in the field and continously learn about changes and methods beging implemented. It is also important to identify oneself with an organization deticated to education. This allows for professional growth through the aquisition of new and improved resources.

Membership to NAEYC fulfills substandard 6a because it is proof of my belonging to a professional organization. The NAEYC provides resources to members that are aimed to help educators to be come better teachers in the classroom. This membership provides proof of involvement with an organization that is deticated to the early childhood field.
Sub-Standard 6B focuses on the importance of understanding and acting on the ethical standards expected of an early childhood professional. This means that educators are expected to know and understand what is right and wrong in the field of education, and conciously remember these while implementing lessons in the classroom.

The Ethics Statement of Commitment fulfills Sub-Standard 6b because it is proof that I have been made aware of the ethical standards expected of a professional in the early childhood field of education. This is a signed and dated document created by the NAEYC for educators.
