The learning goal with which my students were most successful was LG4. Learning Goal 4 states that the student distinguishes fact from opinion. The reason for this success was firstly, it was a new topic and very unfamiliar to the students. While completing the pre-assessment, even though some students did well, most of them had little or no prior knowledge on this new topic and did not do so well. Secondly on the post-assessment my students did very well. All of them met my stated goal of 70% or higher on this objective. Students were able to reach and or exceed my goal because of my objective aligned instruction. These instructions alignment included a lesson on what constitute a fact and an opinion. Additionally, we did many online repetitive activities such as, quizzes from BrainPop and FunBrain. We also read short passages and identified the facts and opinions. These give the students the relevant practice needed to add and strengthen their prior knowledge.
